I was at Jo Ann Fabrics, looking in the dollar bins, and found these cute pink potholders and thought they were screaming to be altered, so I took them home.
I measured the inside dimensions (inside the bias tape) and cut a square of chipboard. Then I rounded the corners using the potholder as a guide (the potholders weren't even so each corner was a little different.)
I covered the chipboard with pretty paper...
I adhered it onto what will be the inside of my book, and punched binding holes with my Crop-A-Dile. I used a little fray-check on the holes on the potholder side, then I set eyelets. Hopefully it won't fray!
I cut pages to put inside my book. I used Nana's Kitchen from DCWV. I am thinking pictures will go on these pages.
I used my Cricut to cut out potholder shapes from the "From My Kitchen" cartridge, but I didn't want the cardstock hanger, so I substituted ribbon instead. I have a giant jar with scraps, and picked colors to match the colors in this book. I stamped lines using a 7 Gypsies stamp set called "Journal." I am going to put recipes on these pages.
I embellished the rings with ribbons of multiple varieties from my ribbon jar. I used the postcard image from Heartwarming Vintage. I made the ribbon flower, and just added a variety of flowers and pearles and such.
I had some old stickers that were similar colors, so I used those up as well on the pages.
This will make a great recipe book for my favorite diet crushing goodies!
That is super cute, I really like the paper you used.
