Bee Bath

OK, I know it's a little late in the season for this post, but I wanted to show you the Bee Bath that I made.  The coolest part is that IT REALLY DOES WORK!
I had a pot that I wasn't using, so I filled it in the middle with rocks and around the edge with blue marbles.  I added the palm tree and the mermaid because I thought it was cute.
Bees need to drink water too, but it can be hard for them. They need a place to sit while they dip into the water.  They can drown easily, apparently. You fill the water only so far so that they have places to land.  This bee appeared the very day I made this!!!  They love it!

It's not much, but I'm trying to do my part for all of the critters.

Have a lovely day!

Tea "Book Box"

I bought a big box of all sorts of assorted teas.  The box it all came in was MAGNIFICENT!  I knew that I could make it into something cool...here is what I did.
The cover of the "book" was cut out.  I trimmed the middle circle to make it flush.  Then I measured, cut some chipboard, put it into the open spaces and taped them in.  Now the cover is solid!
Here is a view of the cover once I filled it in.
I had been to Tuesday Morning and picked up some of these beauties!  I found several tubes of crafting papers.  This turned out to be the perfect project!  I covered the front and the back of the box.  I also added papers to the spine of the box.
I got into my stash and found perfect embellishments to decorate the cover.
Here is a picture of the spine.
I covered the inside cover and added a cute butterfly to the bottom of the box.  The other amazing thing about this box is that it had a magnetic closure...YAY!

I hope you like this recycling project.  It is going to make for some beautiful organization and storage.

Stay organized...and don't forget to repurpose and recycle!

I Remember When" 12x12 Layout

I was just going through my stash of scraps and decided that I needed to try to make a layout with what I had leftover from this bunch of goodness.  I ended up framing it and hanging it because I love it so much.  The picture is my husband, oldest son, and our first grandchild (our daughters son).  I love this picture because it shows 3 generations of men in our family, and all three of them have the same middle name, taken from my husbands father.  Tradition!  The title came from one of the cutouts and it fit perfectly, since that baby is almost 9 years old now!
I started by looking at the supplies I had available.  It wasn't much.  This is from a line by Cosmo Cricket called Circa 1934.  I love this line!
I came up with this layout.  I had to piece-meal it together because I didn't even have a full paper.  But by layering I was able to create a full 12x12 size background!  Shhhhh, don't tell anyone!
 Here is the finished project.
I layered chipboard pieces to create clusters.
I also had to add bling to the project!
I soooooo love how it turned out.  It is just amazing what you can do with scraps!

Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!!!
