12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS TAG BOOK AND BOX TUTORIAL

 OMGEEEEE!!!  I'm so excited about this one!  

I made this fun tag book that will hold small photos and journaling for the 12 days of Christmas.  It's a nice alternative to a December Daily and FUN TO MAKE!

I used a lot of scraps and Simple Stories collection bits and leftovers...as well as some Dollar Store tags.  Please come check this out!

Accordion Pocket Explosion Box December Daily Tutorial

 

This is the tutorial for the very simplified December Daily Explosion Box Idea that I shared a couple of days ago. If you are interested in seeing that version, the video is here...

This is my design team project for Country Craft Creations. You don't need a bunch of supplies for this one. It's quick and easy! I used the exclusive collection "Christmas Cheer" by Country Craft Creations I also used Artisan cardstock in Black, Olive, Red and Pearl Sheen Natural Other supplies from Country Craft Creations: Seam Binding in Black and Red Black foam tape

From my stash I used one eyelet and some tinsel trim. I also inked the patterned papers with Distress ink by Tim Holtz, in Vintage Photo. I also used a small piece of chipboard for the star on the lid. For the box you will need one cardstock at 12 x 12 and for the lid, one piece 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 The pockets are made from 4 pieces of cardstock at 8 3/4 x 2 1/2. These are made from black cardstock. The tags are 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 and are made from Green, Red and Pearl Sheen Natural. You will need 8 of each. The center trifold is made from a piece that is 11 1/4 x 3 3/4 (black cardstock) with red cardstock mats that are 3 5/8 x 3 5/8, you will need 4 of these. December Daily, Finished for 2013!!!

I thought that today I would show you all the last half of my December Daily album for 2013, and then show you the altered box for the Christmas cards we received.  I left some of the pages out, because I didn't get permission from the folks in them to put their pictures on my blog. This is a long post with a lot of pictures.  The box project is at the end of the post.

 Like I said before, I like to put new recipes tried into these albums.

 When I didn't have pictures, I put a list (On the 15th).

 On the left is an envelope that I used to put a pamphlet in.  On the right, my hubbin's picture is a flap...

 ...it opens for journaling.

 This pocket page is full of tags about what the 21st held for us.

 Christmas day!!  Sorry, these are the pages I omitted because of the family, but I had several pages for Christmas day!

 I continue through the end of December...so here are my pages about getting my planner ready for 2014.

 On this page I made a waterfall type page.  The tag behind comes out so you can read the other journaling.  The page on the right opens to house the recipes I tried for New Years.

And taking the decorations down.  My boys look so sad!

So now, here is the box I made for my Christmas cards.

 I just covered my box with papers left over from my December Daily.

 I covered the inside also.

 I bundled my cards with ribbons, and it's done!

This is what the box looked like when I started.  I get these from work.  I have used them in a couple of projects, and have also cut them up to make covers for some of my albums.  I love it when I can get my hands on them as they are super heavy duty!

December Daily 2013

This is going to be a long post, full of pictures, but I wanted to let you know that as of right now, I am up-to-date on my December Daily album!!!  WOO HOO!!  I just wanted to share with you what my pages look like right now.  I have done some decoration, and plan on adding more once all of the pages are done.  I think that it will all depend on how thick this book gets, on how many more decorations I add once the month is done.

OK, here it goes...

 Day 1 is a fold out page...

 ...showing our painting project.  This style pages is good for a day full of photos.

 I love how this is turning out!

 I like to add recipes that I try during the month of December.  I just bought inexpensive recipe cards at Michael's for this.

This fold out tag page is also a pocket.  Behind it are more pictures of my gift-wrapped furnishings.

 The 5th was a big day...I created a pocket page in one of the fold out pages to put the lottery tickets and other fun stuff in.  No, unfortunately we didn't win a thing.

 These recipes were big, so I just decided to make a huge tag page for them.

 The back of this picture is the Santa Mug make-and-take that I did last November at CKC.  It was perfect to add to this book.

 Day 10 is on a large tag page that I created.

 How do you like my Zeke?  I love how his eyes are glowing!  The silver page is made from the shopping bag.  I liked the snowflakes on it, so make it part of the book.

Well, that's it so far.  I'll show you more as I get it done!

December Daily, 2013!

Yes, it's that time of year...DECEMBER DAILY TIME!!!  I can't wait...I have been gathering up stuff for this project for an entire year!  It all started with a kit that I bought at the 2012 Creative Keepsakes Convention. I just kept adding more awesome and wonderful things to my kit, in anticipation of this wonderful project!

If not, you can check out the beginnings of this project idea.   It all started with Ali Edwards.  You can click on the link to see her blog.  All of my posts on this project are here in my December Daily section.  I started doing this in 2008.  I love it, and the process and I can't wait to get started.  I have a planner page in my Arc Planner, where I am making notes of the pictures I am taking.  I plan on printing out the pictures every couple of days, and then adding them to the book.  These first couple of days have already been very busy.  I hope I have enough room in my book!

Happy Freezin' Season Mini Album

 After seeing Kathy Orta's YouTube tutorials on this "December Daily 2" mini album, I decided to make it. Here is my version.  I did not see all of the videos before I actually started making it.  Her album is supposed to be a gatefold style, I didn't wait, and mine is a regular style mini album, but it is wide!!!  The spine is 3 1/2"!!  It still turned out very awesome, and I love how it looks.  I am not using it as a December Daily, but as a winter themed mini album.

 I am going to put a list of the supplied I used to make this at the end of the post.

 It has 12 "page sets" in all.  I didn't even count how many pockets and tags there are.  This book can hold a TON of pictures.  I used kraft envelopes from Michaels to make my pages.  Those made the "page sets" very thick.  Next time I will use the thinner envelopes that she used.  It will make them less thick, and then I can embellish more.  But, I used what I had in my stash, so that's why the kraft envelopes and cards.

 Since the envelopes are thick, I used thin papers to cover them, which helped.

 There are lots of pull outs and different size pockets created.  There are 3 styles of "page sets", and you make 4 of each style.

Watch all of her videos FIRST, half of the pages are supposed to be made "reverse" for the gatefold style.  I made all of the pages before I knew that, which is why this style of binding suited my pages better.  Patience is sometimes not one of my virtues.  I used the "Stack the Deck" style of binding by Laura Denison.

 I am only showing you the first three "page sets".  I tried to make them all different.

Most of my page embellishments, like this "Winter" one, is adhered on the bottom edge only so that pictures can be tucked behind them.

 This polar bear cracks me up!
