Let's use a CARD KIT to make a Baby File Box Album!

 Hi all! I was asked for a tutorial on how I made my recipe box, so I'm here to share it. The TWIST is that I made the box the same BUT used a partial card kit I got in a grab bag, and transformed it into a cute BABY ALBUM!! I wanted to show how versatile this little box can be.

All measurements are in the video, since there aren't many. I will go over everything in how to make this, including altering the paper in a Simple Stories Card Kit to cover this. It is so fun and a great way to repurpose your stash. This is a great stash buster, and fun to make. Making Recipe Journals for my Craft Fair!

 As part of my #paperstashsmash project for April I am smashing this collection from Authentique called "Ingredients".  I made 6 recipe journals that I hope will sell well at my upcoming craft fair at the end of April.  I just love how they came out.

Kitschy Kitchen Paper Smash!

 Hi all, and welcome to my channel. I have a smash video share you will love. I had this paper Kitschy Kitchen by Melissa Francis in my stash for years. Kitchen Memories Recipe Album Tutorial, A Country Craft Creations Design Team Project

Finally!!! I purchased this paper collection a while ago and I was finally able to make my dreams and ideas into this gorgeous album. The paper is "Kitchen Memories" by Country Craft Creations, https://countrycraftcreations.com. This album is full of easy interactions that you can fill with lots of memories, photos and recipes. This is my newest tutorial, Christmas themed cupcake holders and cupcake pokes.  I wanted to make a festive way to show off your Christmas baked goods.  It's quick and easy and doesn't require a lot of paper, so it can be quite a stash buster also!

Santa's Little Helper Pamphlet Project, a Country Craft Creations Design Team Project

Hi all!!! This project was purely a whimsical idea that I needed to try. I had a few pages left over from this amazing collection and I decided to make a quick and easy project that smashed the paper pack. This is a quick pamphlet booklet type project that was whipped up in less than an hour and makes a cute gift or a great addition to your recipe book collection. You just need a few pages, I used 8x8 sheets of patterned paper and some scraps to make pockets. I used a couple of items from my stash also. I hope this is something you will try! A Recipe Junk Journal You Have To See!

 

I have been wanting to make one of these for a very long time!  I bought this recipe book solely for this purpose, but truth be known, I actually have a copy of it in my recipe collection too!

Farmhouse Living Album Tutorial, a Design Team Project for Country Craft Creations

 Hello, and here is the tutorial for this album. I created it as a recipe album, and it will hold a ton of recipes and pictures. This is a collection by Echo Park, called Farmhouse Living, and it is a fun collection that has a very country vibe to it. It is available at Country Craft Creations.

Hearth and Home Kitchen Center Altered Box Project

I had these wooden boxes in my craft room and the inspiration struck me.  I think the colors are fantastic and they match my kitchen PERFECTLY!

Bountiful Blessings Recipe Box, A Design Team Project for Country Craft Creations

I have just published a tutorial using "Bountiful Blessings". This is a recipe box, like the recipe box I used to keep all of the lovely cards I received in the last virtual retreat we had this past summer. I had several requests to share how I made it. These papers are PERFECT for this project. I made some pocket tags to go inside and hold recipes. I also made the flowers using a Graphic 45 Die that I bought from Country Craft Creations. It made the perfect flowers using the scraps of papers leftover. I hope you like it! I really enjoyed making it!

Recipe box project

 This last week has been mentally and physically brutal. My Ace is doing well, he is home from doggie ICU but still a sick pup. He is slowly getting better. Thank goodness my mom came to babysit while we had to work. (And work this week was so hard!!!). She is an absolute angel! 

 I tried to work on design team projects but my brain wasn’t able. I do have my next one ready to film, I think Monday. But I couldn’t work on the third. Sometimes to take my mind off of things and rest it a little I do tutorials from other designers. I decided to work on Jennifer Palmer’s Recipe Box. She is an amazing designer with Country Craft Creations.

It’s big enough to hold 8 1/2 x 11” printouts!!!

I had the perfect papers in my stash, and used Black Artisan Cardstock. When I was done I made a quick mini file with the leftovers.

 I had so many scraps I decided to make some patchwork paper sheets. Now I have 6 more 12x12 papers to play with!  I did a tutorial on how to do that here.

Some Simple Recipe Albums

 I wanted to share a quick and easy project that I did.  I was at Tuesday morning and found the inserts for the recipe album that was put out by Project Life.  I picked up two of them, came home and went through my stash.

 For this book I used some chipboard left over from a Heidi Swapp album set that I had and it fit perfectly.

I covered the board and went through my stash of flowers and bling and made a pretty cover.  I punched holes for binder rings.

 I used a 4x6 card to create a pocket on the inside front cover.

 It is going to be a great recipe album!

At the end of the book I created a pocket page.

It turned out lovely! I bought two inserts, so I made a second album.  This time I used chipboard and created my own cover.

 I love how the embellishments turned out on the cover.

 This time I didn't make a pocket on the front inside cover.

 I did create a pocket page.

Organizing my Recipes!

GOOD MORNING!!!

I have an organizing post for you today.  In addition to crafting, I love to cook and to try new recipes. I have been collecting recipes since I was a kid.  I used to go through my mom's magazines, and in the food product ads they would tell you that you could send a "self addressed stamped envelope" to the company and they would send you recipes!  I did that constantly! (Remember, this was 

WAY WAY WAY BEFORE the internet!)  I collected all kinds of stuff.  I was also pretty fortunate that my dad worked at the post office so he could mail them off for me and get the stamps I needed!

The above picture is one half of our office space in our house, and this side is dedicated to my recipe collection.  I have graduated from snail mail to collecting books, internet printouts, and for a while I did a lot of swaps.  

This is what is inside those cupboards and file drawers...

I have a huge collection of recipes.  And, I really do try to do new recipes all of the time.  One year I kept a tally, and I tried over 300 new things that year!  

Everything from casseroles to seasoning mixes.  Our diet changes along with our health situation, and eating healthier is a priority right now.  So, once again, I am collecting a lot of new recipes and I need a system so that I can find them again.  This was one of my 2019 goals.  I did it!

I am combining my love of planning with my love of collecting recipes. 

I keep a Bullet Journal (Bujo) for a variety of lists in my craft room.  I decided that the bujo technique may just be the answer to how to find my recipes that I have tried and loved.  

It's simple, I divided the page into the recipe name and where it is located.  I just went through all of my stuff and wrote everything down.  I left several pages blank in each category so that I could add more recipes as I try them.  It was a long process, but it is well worth it.  Now I know where that darn recipe is located and it makes meal planning so much easier.  

Speaking of meal planning... I made a book with my Happy Planner meal planning sheets and this is what I use to figure out the grocery lists, and the weeks meals.  I do a little meal prepping on my days off so that my work days are easier to deal with.  I list it all out and if I need to find recipes then I can go to the index, pull the recipe and be totally ready to go.  I have some sticky notes with my meal planner, and I usually use stickers to make it look pretty, but I didn't this week for some silly reason.  

That's what I have for you today, a little organizing tip that is also fun to do..especially fun when it is done and you reap the rewards of your hard work!

Home Sweet Home

 One one of our famous Creating Keepsakes adventures I picked up this kit.  It is by Nicole Harper of The Hen's Den.  Unfortunately, they were not coming back to the next convention...but that meant that they were having a sale.  I love this paper line, and I had to buy it.

 The kit sat in my pile of to do stuff for a while, and I finally decided to put it together.  The paper line is by Graphic 45, and it is called "Home Sweet Home".

 The top lid has a drawer that pulls out.

The bottom box is intended to be a recipe card file.  I have this box sitting in my office on the desk.  It is just sitting there looking beautiful, and I haven't figured out what to put in it yet.  No worries though, I will get this dilemma straightened out soon.

A recipe holder for my new kitchen

I was wandering around the Craft Warehouse and I came upon this awesome photo easel that I immediately bought.  It is heavy duty and was on sale for $5.88!  I thought about how I needed a recipe holder for my kitchen, and bought it.  It comes in two pieces (which is awesome for storage when I'm not using it).  I decided it was a little plain, so I decorated it.  That way, if I do leave it out it is cute!

 I had this paper from Farmhouse and thought it would be perfect.  I added a mat and photo corners to add a little more interest.

 It doesn't take up too much room, but is large enough to hold a cook book if I wanted.  I think it looks cool, and it works great!

I love being able to create useful things for myself.  I may go back and buy a bunch more and make them for presents!  (SHHHHHH!!!  Don't tell anyone I said that!)
