Friendship Rose Stacked Book Decor/Gift Box, a Country Craft Creations Design Team Project

Welcome back to my site. This is a fun project that looks like a decorative book piece but is also a gift box. In these boxes you can put goodies for your Valentine, and I've also created a small tag album to go inside. I'm using Heartfelt Creations "Friendship Roses" by Country Craft Creations, which can be found here.

The Heartfelt Creations Dies that I used for the album can be found here: Tag Die Pocket Die, this is currently sold out, I'm sorry, but please keep checking back. Each outer box used 1 (12 x 12) sheet of heavyweight chipboard, 2 sheets of main color of cardstock. Each inner box used about 1/2 sheet of lightweight chipboard and 3 sheets of main color cardstock. Patterned paper for the entire project totals about 8-10 sheets of 12 x 12, depending on how you want to decorate the boxes. I used 2 sheets of Summer Ivory, a coordinating color of cardstock for the outer boxes. Photo Box Project using Country Craft Creations "Bountiful Blessings" and "Santa's Little Helper"

 

Hello and welcome to my design team project tutorial. This is a project I created for Country Craft Creations, and it uses the exclusive designer papers "Bountiful Blessings" in one example, and "Santa's Little Helper" in the other. I created this album/photo box with the idea in mind that you can add a few key photos, and then put the rest in a photo box to store. I have added a new "lifter" to aid in getting the photos out of the box. I hope you enjoy the tutorial! I use the Lay Flat Cover Method for the cover. I do not go over this in the video. I did a tutorial on how to do it here.

Below is a cutting guide for the base cardstock. All measurements and instructions will be given in the tutorial. This album didn't take too many papers. I used about 8 sheets of a main color cardstock, and 1-2 sheets of a coordinating cardstock. I used about 10 sheets of 12x12 paper ("Bountiful Blessings") and about 16 sheets of 8x8 paper ("Santa's Little Helper"). Additional supplies from Country Craft Creaiotns include seam binding, lace, score tape sheets, Art Glitter Glue, flowers and tags. I added bling and a mini wooden spoon from my stash.

Tea "Book Box"

 I bought a big box of all sorts of assorted teas.  The box it all came in was MAGNIFICENT!  I knew that I could make it into something cool...here is what I did.

 The cover of the "book" was cut out.  I trimmed the middle circle to make it flush.  Then I measured, cut some chipboard, put it into the open spaces and taped them in.  Now the cover is solid!

 Here is a view of the cover once I filled it in.

 I had been to Tuesday Morning and picked up some of these beauties!  I found several tubes of crafting papers.  This turned out to be the perfect project!  I covered the front and the back of the box.  I also added papers to the spine of the box.

 I got into my stash and found perfect embellishments to decorate the cover.

I covered the inside cover and added a cute butterfly to the bottom of the box.  The other amazing thing about this box is that it had a magnetic closure...YAY!

I hope you like this recycling project.  It is going to make for some beautiful organization and storage.

The last of my posts on this series!

I needed a place for my book boxes, so that they could be displayed and used as they are supposed to be used, for some secret storage!

 This is the entrance to my room.  Behind the door is all of my ribbon storage with hooks on the wall.  This shows the side of the closet, I have some book shelves here with my knitting and crocheting books and magazines.  The wall above was clear, so my shelf went here!

 I constructed a shelf with chipboard, painted the edges, and covered it with papers from Cosmo Cricket, "Material Girl".  Fitting, huh?  I chose the yellow and green to kind of go with my room.  I used a purse handle I got on clearance at Craft Warehouse, and hung it with a Command hook.  Simple, easy peasy!

Now my book boxes have a home!

 I already blogged about the purple book, today I want to show you two more.

 It is hard to see, but I layered photo corner punches in this book.

 In this one I created photo corners from my corner punch.  I also used off white paper to see what it would look like.

What do you think?  I now have secret storage for more stuff!

Book Box

The other day I was cleaning up some things, getting my books and magazines in some sort of order, and an idea hit.

 I took one of my scrapbooking books...

 And created a book box out of it!  I followed the premise of the tutorial found here, on Whiff of Joy.  It turned out to be huge...the area inside the box is 1 1/2" deep, 10 1/2" high and 7 1/2" wide.

I love how the sides of the box resemble papers.  I created a lining for inside the box, since I didn't want the ridges inside the storage area.  I think it turned out pretty cool.

Now, what do I put in here?

A Beautiful Book Box

This is one of the neatest things I have seen in a while.  It is the same concept as the hollow book, but made with your cardstock, and it looks like a handmade mini album!

 I was web surfing and just came upon this here at Vintage Udfordring.  I also found it here, at Whiff of Joy.  This is my interpretation of it. Check out the "pages"!

I used papers from Recollections and Creative Imaginations.  The flowers are from Recollections and Memory Makers.  The ribbon is from American Crafts.  I colored a doily with ink by Tim Holtz, and the bling is Studio G.

This is the box open.  In the other tutorials, they don't line the inside of the box, but I did.  I thought it made it look a little more "finished."  The envelope has a card that I stamped with a doily stamp.

You can put anything you want in it, I decided to make a mini album to put inside.  The hearts were punched with McGill and Martha Stewart heart punches.  The butterfly is an EK Success punch.

The mini album was premade, and I didn't have the package, but I think it was by Crafty Secrets.  I covered it with more papers and added tags to the pockets.

I love how it came out, and now want to make MORE!  It is such a clever idea, very sturdy, and I love that it really looks like a "book" when closed!
