What to do with your leftover paper packaging

Good afternoon!  I have come by today to share with you my ideas for using up leftover paper packaging.
I used this kit by Authentique some time ago to create an album.  The first in that tutorial series can be found here.    I had the leftover packaging, and I loved the images, so I kept it, knowing that I would use it in an additional project.
I also had these stickers leftover.
I grabbed my box of leftovers from Artisan Cardstock (from Country Craft Creations) and started creating.
These are just a few of the things I did with this paper.  On YouTube I have a short video ( > 6 minutes) in which I talk about how I did these, and other things that I made.

I hope you like it and I hope you have a crafty day!!!

Tea "Book Box"

I bought a big box of all sorts of assorted teas.  The box it all came in was MAGNIFICENT!  I knew that I could make it into something cool...here is what I did.
The cover of the "book" was cut out.  I trimmed the middle circle to make it flush.  Then I measured, cut some chipboard, put it into the open spaces and taped them in.  Now the cover is solid!
Here is a view of the cover once I filled it in.
I had been to Tuesday Morning and picked up some of these beauties!  I found several tubes of crafting papers.  This turned out to be the perfect project!  I covered the front and the back of the box.  I also added papers to the spine of the box.
I got into my stash and found perfect embellishments to decorate the cover.
Here is a picture of the spine.
I covered the inside cover and added a cute butterfly to the bottom of the box.  The other amazing thing about this box is that it had a magnetic closure...YAY!

I hope you like this recycling project.  It is going to make for some beautiful organization and storage.

Stay organized...and don't forget to repurpose and recycle!

Organizing and Recycling!

This is a short post, but it is a cool idea and I wanted to share...and it shows the banner that I wrote about last week.  I was at Tuesday Morning and they had these Graphic 45 paper rolls.  I totally bought one of each and came home...then realized I wasn't sure where to store them.
I had plastic containers that my laundry pods come in all saved up and waiting for a purpose.  Today was the day.  I carefully cut off the top of the container, and wrapped it with washi tape.  This made a perfect holder for my tubes of paper.

And, if you haven't gone...check out Tuesday Morning.  They get a lot of craft supplies.  It's amazing what I have picked up there for a fraction of the price.  Yes, they have older supplies, but some things never ever go out of style for crafting.

I really  love recycling projects, and I love organization.  This was a win win!

Have a crafty day!!

Ruler Decor

I found these awesome rulers in a clearance bin and picked them up, not knowing what in the world I was going to do with them.  I don't even know who makes them, but they were cool, and they were inexpensive, and I figured that I would do something with them.

Then one day I was on Pinterest and saw something similar.  You can find that here on Ana White's blog.

I got the rulers and went through my stash of clothes pins and found these, made by Queen and Company.

All I did was arrange the rulers and hot glue them into position.  Then I added the clothes pins and hot glued them.  I left the hangers on the ends of the rulers so that I can hang this up.  I plan to put pictures of my grandkids on this.  I haven't hung it up yet because I have to find the best possible place to put it.

I wanted to share it because it is super easy to make and will make such a cute addition to your decor.

Have a great day and stay crafty!

My Vintage Halloween Crow

Oh yes, I am into the vintage thing this year.  I love how this turned out!  I loosely followed a tutorial by Tangie Baxter.  You can find the whole tutorial here.  There are printables available, but I didn't use them.  I didn't even look at them.  I did, however, use the instructions to make the collar.
The crow is from Michaels.  The box is a cigar box that my friend gave me several years ago.  I was saving it for the perfect project.  Taa Daa!!!  I made the collar with papers from Echo Park, "The Apothecary Emporium" and used some paper tags from the leftovers from the Collections Box that I shared with you a couple days ago.
The flowers are from Recollections, the ribbons are also Recollections.  I added moss to the bottom to help cover the wire that keeps the crow upright.  The pumpkins, the bottle inside the box, and the skull pendant are all by Tim Holtz.  I also used some distress ink by him as well.

I am not sure where the skull came from, but it is a bead that I just love and use them a lot in my Halloween stuff!

Thanks for stopping by.  Stay scary, my friends!!

My Mini Desk Caddy Project

I Got a little bored one day and I decided to make a project.  I decided to do a little recycling and some stash busting and create a mini desk caddy to organize things while I am doing a project.  I also decided to show you all how I did it.  I had these Crystal light boxes and the leftover papers and stickers from a class I took at a Creating Keepsakes Convention by Farm House, and thought that this would work great.
I first glued the boxes together and then used Washi to cover the edges.
I cut the papers so that all of the corners would be covered.  I measured and then added extra for tabs to wrap around the boxes.  This added more structure and support to the boxes.

I also made a chipboard base to put on the bottom of the box.

Then I decorate with the leftover stickers and chipboard die cuts that I had.
It turned out super cute, and as you can see, it holds a lot of big and heavy stuff!
 Very cool, huh?
It just took me a little time, but was fun and easy.  I am going to use it during projects.  I tend to have a mess on my desk when I am actively working on a project, this will help contain the mess a little more!

Stay crafty, and organized, my friends!

Fairy Jar Lanterns

My daughter sent me a link to a video, which you can see here, by Nifty.  My twin granddaughters are in their new bedroom, which is a fairy themed room, and Grandma is making these Fairy Jars for them.
Here is a picture of my set up started.  I sent this to my daughter, so she could see that the project is finished.  I found the jars at Target for $3 each.  I painted the lids silver, and used white paint inside the jars.  I had some Silhouette fairy files, so I used them, grass and butterflies for the project.
After I adhered the die cuts inside the jars I had to test them out.  I used a larger battery operated candle inside the jar.
Here are different views of the jar...
...One of the fairies had mushrooms, so I used them too!
I wantend to add some flowers to the project, so I decorated the lid.
 Here are the finished jars.
I used a coat hanger for the handle.  The flowers are from Recollections.  The brads are, I think, Basic Grey.  The white floral embellishments are from Jolee's.
I don't know where I got the leaves, sorry about that.  The silver glitter Washi tape is by Heidi Swap.
I painted a wooden base to set the jar on, and thought that it needed decoration with the flowers.  I think it turned out very pretty!
Here is an inside shot of what it looks like.  I added moss inside, which filled out the bottom and made it look very cool when I put the candle back in it.
I hope you enjoyed looking at this project.  It was super fun to make.  Now I just have to figure out how to get it to the girls through the mail without destroying them!  Wish me luck!!!

Stay crafty, my friends!!

Pie Plate Lazy Susan

Hey all!!!  How is everyone today?  I hope that your July is off to a wonderful start and that your summer is going most awesome!

I want to share with you another Lazy Susan project.  I made one before, and you can see
the post here.

I got the original idea from Alejandra, and you can see her tutorial here.

I took it another step and used a pie plate and a pie cutter for the organizer!
Isn't it pretty??  I used an old doily that I had in my closet.  I found this awesome pie cutter at a vintage store in my town.  Foxtrot Vintage is an awesome store.  Here is their Facebook Page in case you want to check it out.  I didn't see a blog or a website for their store, this is as close as I could get. It's a fantastic store.  I have purchased many cool little items for our home here.

Anyway...I spied the pie cutter and had to have it.  This is how I put together the organizer.

I got two pie plates from the store.  They were on sale, and two of them cost me just a few dollars.
I blocked the doily to make it all pretty...
...I filled one pie plate with marbles.  (I added more after the picture was taken, you should fill the bottom of the plate you are using.  It makes it turn nicer.)
I layered the other pie plate on top, then the doily, then the cutter.
Now I have a cute Lazy Susan with divided areas for my craft goodies.  You can see the other one I made out of cake plates in the upper left hand corner of the picture.  I love them!

Well, that's all for today.  Stay crafty and organized, my friends!

Cantilever Sewing Box, Part 2

After I put the boxes together, shown in the previous post, I took it all apart, then I reinforced the levers with another piece of cardboard (making them double thick), and covered them with kraft paper.  I also changed the color of the brads that I used.  I think the gold matches the papers better.
I also changed the knobs to ones I felt more suited the project.
This is one side opened, you can see how big the drawers are!  I covered the inside of the box with some kraft paper to cover the brads, but that is all of the papering I did on the inside of the boxes.
The handles were not to my liking, so I edged them with more papers.  Then I stuck the whole thing together and attached it to the foam core base.

This is the finished project.  I added feet to it to make it more pretty.
I love how it came out.
It will be so fun to fill with fun stuff.  I just have to figure out what to put in it!

It's awesome, and a fun project to make.  Below is a list of things I used to make it.

Papers:  DCWV and Recollections Kraft Cardstock
Knobs:  Tim Holtz
Feet:  Graphic 45
Adhesive:  Score Tape (Yup, just loads of Score Tape...I love that stuff!)
Miscellaneous:  Brads, screws (for the feet), a drill to make the holes, paper piercer, rulers, etc.

Stay crafty, my friends!
