Explosion Box Tutorial with an Attached Lid and a Mini Candy Basket!

Hi all! Here’s a quick tutorial on the boxes I shared a bit ago. This is a project for the #paperstashsmash collab that I am participating in. I hope you like it! My original video where I shared this box is here, https://youtu.be/XCs-7uquXaA. I will do a separate video for the mini explosion box in a different video.

Every month a great group of creators are going to choose papers to get out of our stash, and share what we are making. We will do videos on the 1st of every month, at 0900 Pacific, and show what we made with the previous months paper selections, and what we will be working with for the next month. Please like and subscribe and share in the fun. If you want to join along, use the #paperstashsmash, we would all love to see! The larger box was one I saw and converted to inches from centimeters, and I love how it turned out as an Easter gift, especially with the mini basket inside. The original tutorial I converted is here: https://youtu.be/hRLVKXgB2Ag?si=-dsc35jYgGH31MA2. CUT LIST FOR CARDSTOCK: Box, 1 - 11 1/4 x 12 Lid, 1 - 11 5/8 x 7 3/4 Inner Basket, 1 - 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 Here is a list of collaborators that are involved in this project. The links are to their YouTube Channels, but in our monthly videos you will be given links to their monthly videos. Go share some love and visit to like and subscribe to them. OOPS, I did it again...Let's Play Catch Up!

Hi all and welcome!

I have been pretty busy and realized I forgot to post these on my blog, so I'm doing a catch up.  If you haven't seen these on my YouTube Channel, I have done some great projects and I can't wait to share them with you.

This one is using my leftovers from my design team package from Country Craft Creations.  I made goodies for my flip book!

This video shares some notebooks I have been making in preparation of a craft fair I am doing in May.  Notebooks!

Here's an idea I had, making a removable cover for a mini composition notebook.  It is AWESOME!!!

April 1st I did my #craftygoals2024 video...you have to see what I did.  I shared several things that I made, and not all of them are made of paper!

Today I shared the prototype project I made when working out the design for my Explosion Box with a Base tutorial...this was for the design team (Country Craft Creations).

I am sorry I didn't publish these here before, but better late than never, right?

Thanks so much, and stay crafty, my friends!!!

I did make a cheat sheet for you to download/print for the cardstock sizes needed for this lid technique and will explain it in the video. I hope you like this idea. It was another one of my ah-ha moments. Thanks for watching and have a crafty day!!! Here's the link to the cheat sheet for the NEW lid sizing.

I am also using the 12 x 14 Artisan cardstock and the Glamour Cardstock for the first time. This box doesn't use the explosion scoreboard, just the "usual" one. I hope you enjoy the walk through and I'll be back soon with the tutorial.
STAY WARM AND SAFE!!!

NEW!!! Baby Explosion Box Tutorial, Large 6 x 6" size!

I have made a new explosion box, supersized to 6 x 6".  This was a request from one of my subscribers, so I hope that it is what they wanted to see!

I made a smaller version that was too small for all I wanted to do with it...so the bigger size was just what was needed.  The video has all of the information in it, and a cutting guide in the description.

I'm using Echo Parks "Our Baby" paper collection. It took about one pack. I also used Artisan Cardstock, seambinding and Art Glitter Glue from Country Craft Creations. https://countrycraftcreations.com

Thanks so much for watching and visiting my blog.  Have a super crafty day!

Heart Explosion Box Tutorial, a Country Craft Creations design team project

Hi all, and welcome to this fun tutorial.  Today we are going to be making this heart shaped explosion box that contains a mini album and two accordion album elements.  It also has a fun pop out feature.  I used "Love Letters" by Country Craft Creations for the initial project, and during this tutorial I'm making an "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" heart shaped box using Country Craft Creations "Homer's Diner".  The Shamrock is using Country Craft Creations "Ireland Forever".

There is a lot of information in the tutorial.  We will be making patterns for the hearts, and the mats for those hearts.  I will show you how to make the "corners" to attach the pages together as well.  At the end of the video I have a share/talk through of a Shamrock Decor piece that I made using this tutorial...I think you will like it, so please watch through!

I have a walk through of this project here:https://youtu.be/lilkNGbAKPg

There is a cutting guide here on Google Docs:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sA6sZPpM_Q0w0KaeERBb7133RyzuAjdU-Y7VKFOTM9w/edit?usp=sharing

It also contains pictures of my "maps" to show how to make the patterns for the cardstock hearts and the patterned papers to mat them.  I will also share these during the tutorial.  I hope you like it.  I don't usually do a document like this, but I think this project needed it.

The project takes approximately 6 sheets of cardstock and 8 sheets of patterned paper to make, each 12 x 12.

The embellishments I used are from my stash and leftovers from past design team packages. I do mention them in the tutorial.  The rest of the products used are:

Victorian Sewing Box Tutorial is Live!!

Hi, and welcome back to A Creative Operation! Today I have the tutorial I did as a design team project for Country Craft Creations or my Victorian Sewing Box. I did a walk through of this project in a video you can see here. This project can be adapted to create an "album" or use as a gift box, the design is very versatile! Below is a cut list and a list of the supplies used. I do share how to make the hexagon patterns you will need to make this project using a compass! This project brought out the "math nerd" in me! If you use a cutting machine you can cut them out with that. If you are a member of Scrapbookers of Country Craft Creations Facebook page, then you will have access to files for the Cricut and Silhouette to cut these shapes. Any of these methods will work to make the shapes. For the hexagons you will need to make patterns for shapes with the following side sizes: 3 3/4, for the box top 3 5/8, for the patterned paper for the box top, and/or the mat for the box top 3 1/2, for the box bottom (you will cut two of these) and one in the patterned paper for the box top 3 3/8, for the patterned paper for the box bottom For the box sides, 6 - 3 1/2 x 6 in the main color and 12 at 3 3/8 x 4 7/8 for the mats in the contrasting color. Pockets, 6 - 6 1/2 x 2 1/2 in the main color Inner box, 1 - 10 x 10 Lid Sides, 6 - 4 1/2 x 2 You will make one large hexagon in the main color, and two of the I used a variety of products from Country Craft Creations, including the paper collection "A Mother's Love" available here. I did use the 12 x 12 paper collection for both the walk through project and the tutorial project. I used Artisan cardstock for both projects. The first used Brown and Kraft, this tutorial project used Denim and Baby Blue. I also used the following: Seam binding lace

Pom pom trim Flowers You will also need Art Glitter Glue, Scor Tape, and Foam Tape. The items that I put in the boxes mostly came from Hobby Lobby (the sewing kit and the embroidery supplies). I used buttons and some flowers from my stash. If you have any questions please let me know, I'm always happy to help. I want all of my tutorials to be easy to understand and follow. Thanks for watching and have a crafty day!

Victorian Sewing Box Design Team Project Walk Through using "A Mother's Love" by Country Craft Creations

Good morning, welcome to Monday. I want to share this walk through for an upcoming design team project I'm making for Country Craft Creations. I'm using "A Mother's Love", which is an exclusive paper collection from Country Craft Creations, and it is just gorgeous. It's not only full of imagery for a mother's love for her children, but it also has a fantastic sewing theme! When I first saw it, I knew what I wanted to do. I made a Victorian Sewing Box! This project is simple, and I'll show you how to make the patterns for the hexagons. It's really easy, and once you know, you will be able to adapt that shape for future projects! So grab your compass and let's have some fun! I used Artisan Cardstock in Brown and Kraft. "A Mother's Love" paper collection (12 x 12). The pom pom trim can be found here. Flowers are from my past design team projects and from my stash, but there are amazing flowers here.
Art Glitter Glue, this is a must have! I also used small wooden spools and buttons from my stash. Enjoy and I'll see you soon with a tutorial! Stay crafty!

Accordion Pocket Explosion Box December Daily Tutorial

This is the tutorial for the very simplified December Daily Explosion Box Idea that I shared a couple of days ago. If you are interested in seeing that version, the video is here...

This is my design team project for Country Craft Creations. You don't need a bunch of supplies for this one. It's quick and easy! I used the exclusive collection "Christmas Cheer" by Country Craft Creations I also used Artisan cardstock in Black, Olive, Red and Pearl Sheen Natural Other supplies from Country Craft Creations: Seam Binding in Black and Red Black foam tape

From my stash I used one eyelet and some tinsel trim. I also inked the patterned papers with Distress ink by Tim Holtz, in Vintage Photo. I also used a small piece of chipboard for the star on the lid. For the box you will need one cardstock at 12 x 12 and for the lid, one piece 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 The pockets are made from 4 pieces of cardstock at 8 3/4 x 2 1/2. These are made from black cardstock. The tags are 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 and are made from Green, Red and Pearl Sheen Natural. You will need 8 of each. The center trifold is made from a piece that is 11 1/4 x 3 3/4 (black cardstock) with red cardstock mats that are 3 5/8 x 3 5/8, you will need 4 of these. Thanks so much for watching and stay tuned for more fun tutorials coming soon!!

Do You Want to Build a Snowman???

I have a new tutorial I designed for Country Craft Creations.  This tutorial uses the We R Memory Keepers Explosion Board and the Echo Park "Winter" paper collection.  I hope you like it!  It's a fun cross between an explosion box mini album, gift box and decor piece.

I am using a great variety of products from Country Craft Creations, including lace, and embellishments as well. The links for the products are below. I hope you check them out, they are AMAZING! Country Craft Creations is amazing...check out all of their products here: https://countrycraftcreations.com This project uses 4 sheets of 12 x 12 Artisan cardstock in White, two in Pearl Sheen White, and three sheets of Black. I only used 5 sheets of patterned paper for this project, however you can decorate it with however many patterns you want. Below is a cutting list for the project. Please don't cut your patterned papers yet, as I will explain what part of the boxes and lids to cover in the video...SOME OF THE SURFACES ARE NOT COVERED WITH PATTERNED PAPER. XXL BOX: (Box is white cardstock) Box: 1 - 12 x 12 Patterned paper for Box: Squares are 3 7/8 x 3 7/8, the triangles are cut from squares that are 2 5/8 x 2 5/8 Lid: 1 - 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 (lid is Pearl Sheen White cardstock) Patterned paper for Lid: Square is 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 and the sides are 4 - 4 1/8 x 1 XL BOX: (Box is white cardstock) Box: 1 - 11 x 11 Patterned paper for Box: Squares are 3 5/8 x 3 5/8, and the triangles are cut from squares that are 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 Lid: 1 - 6 1/4 x 6 1/4 (Lid is Pearl Sheen White cardstock) Patterned paper for lid: square is 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 and the sides are 4 - 3 7/8 x 1 L BOX: (Box is white Cardstock) Box: 1 - 10 x 10 Patterned paper for Box: Squares are 3 1/4 x 3 1/4, and the triangles are cut from squares that are 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 Lid: 1 - 5 7/8 x 5 7/8 (this is cut from black cardstock) Patterned paper for lid: 1 - 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, and the sides 4 - 3 1/2 x 1 "TOP HAT" gift box (cut from black cardstock) 1 - 7 x 7 1 - 6 7/8 x 6 7/8 Patterned paper for squares 2 1/8 x 2 1/8 And now for the measurements of the cardstock you would need for the "new" form of gift box that you can make. These will made a completely enclosed gift box, just like I created with the top hat! XXL: 1 - 12 x 12 and 1 - 11 7/8 x 11 7/8 XL: 1 - 11 x 11 and 1 - 10 7/8 x 10 7/8 L: 1 - 10 x 10 and 1 - 9 7/8 x 9 7/8 M: 1 - 9 x 9 and 1 - 8 7/8 x 8 7/8 S: 1 - 8 x 8 and 1 - 7 7/8 x 7 7/8 XS: 1 - 7 x 7 and 1 - 6 7/8 x 6 7/8 XXS: 1 - 6 x 6 and 1 - 5 7/8 x 5 7/8 Artisan Cardstock, White https://www.countrycraftcreations.com/collections/artisan-cardstock/products/artisan-cardstock-white Artisan Cardstock, Pearl Sheen White https://www.countrycraftcreations.com/collections/artisan-cardstock/products/artisan-cardstock-white Lace https://www.countrycraftcreations.com/collections/artisan-cardstock/products/artisan-cardstock-white 28 Lilac Lane Embellishments (currently on reorder, and will be back soon) Art Glitter Glue https://www.countrycraftcreations.com/collections/art-glue We R Memory Keepers Explosion Board https://www.countrycraftcreations.com/collections/we-r-memory-keepers/products/we-r-memory-keepers-explosion-board Echo Park "Winter" collection https://www.countrycraftcreations.com/search?type=product&q=echo%20park%20winter* PHEW! Friday, October 1, 2021

Hello! Here’s a quick, easy and fun project to do that would make a great present with a little wow factor included. It's a blast from the scrapbooking past.

Tammy of Country Craft Creations challenged the designers to find a past project that we have either never done a tutorial on or a project that we did to a tutorial on in the past but wanted to resurrect and/or revamp it. So…I am resurrecting and revamping this explosion album I did in 2011. The link to my original blog post is here, and the other album I made
is here. It is a fun project that I did two different ways in the past. I combined them into a new and revamped project. I am using Christmas Dreams and Midnight Ride to show you different looks (and because this is the third attempt to do this tutorial!), both collections are exclusive to Country Craft Creations at http://countrycraftcreations.com. Below is a cut list. It took about 11 sheets of cardstock in your base color, and 2-3 sheets of cardstock for photo mats. I used almost an entire pack of 8x8 paper (Christmas Dreams) and about 14 sheets of 12x12 patterned paper (Midnight Ride). Thanks for watching, and have fun with this tutorial! Outer Layer Base: 5 - 8 x 8 Outer Layer Gatefold: 2 - 5 x 8 Inner Layer Base: 5 - 7 x 7 Inner Layer Gatefold: 2 - 4 1/8 x 7 Page Flip: 1 - 12 x 7 I also used 4 pieces of seam binding at 12" each for closures.

Tall Explosion Gift Box Album Tutorial

Here it is...the tutorial for my newest explosion album that's also a gift box!  I am using the exclusive collection "Gentlemen Fleur" for this tutorial and it is only available at Country Craft Creations.  Please go check out the store for this and so many other paper crafting supplies, including a huge assortment of design paper that you will not find anywhere else...(Wait til you see what I got for Halloween and Christmas!)

I am using the We R Memory Keepers Explosion Board for this tutorial, HOWEVER, I know it is very very hard to find and so I am giving all measurements so that you can also use a conventional scoreboard if you don't have the explosion board.  I love the explosion board, because it really takes a lot of work out of making these boxes, but it can be done super easily with my measurements I give in the tutorial.

I hope you have fun with it, and stay crafty!  Have a great weekend!

Tall Explosion Gift Box and Album Walk Through

I made this awesome project because one of my amazing followers asked me to create it.  A while ago I did a tutorial for a Tall Explosion Gift Box...

She asked me if I could make it into an album.  I did it and the tutorial will be coming very soon...this weekend in fact!

I created a gift box/album that is 6" tall, and 4" square.  It is a fun project to do and I think you will like it. I am using the exclusive collection only available from Country Craft Creations called "Gentlemen Fleur".  It is a gorgeous collection and it made a great gift item!

I did use my We R Memory Keepers Explosion Board to make the project, BUT...I will also give you the directions to make one using a conventional score board.  I know these boards are hard to find so I will help you so that you can make one whether you have one or not!

Please go check out the walk through and check out the store.  I'll be back soon to let you know when the tutorial is posted.

Stay crafty, my friends,

Michelle
